Blue Week 2026 – The Hague

Updated: 17 hours ago

Discover how the sea is shaping our future energy system.

Something exciting is happening this autumn. From 5–7 October 2026, The Hague will host the International Conference on Ocean Energy, bringing together world leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, marine biologists and policymakers working on the future of energy from the sea.

To mark this moment, the city launches The Hague Blue Week: a public programme inviting everyone to discover how the sea is becoming part of our future energy system.

From conference to city

Blue Week brings ocean innovation beyond the conference halls and into the city. Throughout the week, residents, students, visitors and delegates can explore exhibitions, talks, innovation tours, educational activities and public events across The Hague.

Whether you are curious about renewable energy, fascinated by the North Sea, or simply looking for an inspiring day out, Blue Week offers something to explore for everyone.

Visit the photo exhibition

The exhibition reveals how innovative technologies, dedicated people and pioneering projects are helping shape a more sustainable future, in which the ocean plays an increasingly important role in our energy system. You will will discover the latest developments in wave and tidal energy, offshore energy storage and floating solar.

The exhibition brings together two complementary photographic collections. Ocean Energy Europe presents international pioneers and member organisations developing wave and tidal energy technologies at full scale. Bluespring, together with Offshore For Sure and the Dutch Energy from Water Association, showcases Dutch offshore innovations, from wave and tidal energy projects to offshore energy storage and floating solar.

Be inspired by the people, places and technologies that are helping position the Netherlands as a global leader in offshore renewable energy and the transition towards a more sustainable future.

The exhibition will be presented at:

  • The Hague City Hall

  • The South Holland Provincial Government Building

  • Potentially a museum or cultural institution

  • And other locations across the city

Why Blue Week?

Most people know wind turbines and solar panels. Fewer know that waves, tides, water currents and offshore innovation are already contributing to a broader, more resilient energy system.

Blue Week makes these developments visible and accessible. Not by focusing only on technology, but by telling the stories behind it: the people developing solutions, the landscapes where they are tested, and the opportunities they create for society, nature and future generations.

Our ambition is simple: after visiting Blue Week, we hope people think:

“Energy from the sea is already happening. This is real, and it belongs in our future energy mix.”

What can you expect?

In the coming months, more programme details will follow, including:

  • Public exhibitions across the city

  • Innovation tours and site visits

  • Family and educational activities

  • Lectures and public talks

  • Networking events

  • Museum collaborations

  • Interactive experiences on the blue economy

Whether you are a resident, student, professional, international visitor or conference delegate, Blue Week is an invitation to experience the future of ocean innovation together.

Offshore For Sure at Blue Week

A key part of Blue Week is the contribution of Offshore For Sure (O4S), a Dutch–Flemish collaboration advancing five innovative ocean energy technologies. These projects demonstrate how energy can be generated from waves, tides and offshore systems, and how ocean energy is moving from development towards practical application.

In the public photo exhibition, O4S will be featured alongside other Dutch innovations and initiatives. Together, they highlight how the Netherlands is building a strong offshore innovation ecosystem—and how energy from the sea can complement wind and solar in the future energy mix.

Stay tuned

This is just the beginning.

In the coming months, we’ll share updates on the program, participating organisations, exhibitions, speakers and ways to get involved.

Follow along—and join us as The Hague celebrates the power, beauty and potential of the sea.
